The Oregon Coast.

Today we spent the majority of the day going North 101 up the coast of Oregon. I was surprised how the forests just met the ocean,  there was very little transition. Most of the morning we were in some sort of fog bank, it gave the trees this spooky feeling. Another cool effect was how the fog obscured the humongous rocks just off the shore. These things were huge, we’ve driven the entire California coast and this terrain doesn’t exist. Remember the movie, Goonies? It’s that coast. We saw giant grass covered sand dunes and the biggest pile of saw dust..maybe on the planet. I swear it was over 5 stories tall and about a 1/4 mile in length. Yeah, huge! You could smell it before you saw it. The air smelt so nice the entire drive.
Coolest things we saw were the bridges. They were mainly concrete with some steel,  but each one was different in it’s own way. I got the impression that whoever built them actually gave a sh*t. I appreciate when you can tell care was put into something.

  1. Scott, I am loving your descriptions. There were those weird beach rocks up near Seaside OR that we saw when we were in OR for Rob’s graduation. I think they called them haystack rocks or something like that.

  2. Driving the Oregon coast was one of my favorite memories. I freaked out about Goonies the whole time. Finally caught up on your shenanigans. I can’t wait to read more! =D
