In an attempt to beat the heat we started an hour earlier than usual this morning. The weather was nice and cool and roads were relatively empty. We raced the sun for a few hours and made some really good progress. Our comm lines are always open, but this morning everyone was silent. Though I couldn’t guess what the other guys were thinking, I imagined Swampkat thinking of his next big idea, Triple Nickel probably thinking about his family, as for me I was thinking about the future but it sounded more like that pop goes the weasel song.
I watched our shadows grow short as the sun rose. It feels like the movie Sunshine here the sun is so intense. As their shadows moved directly beneath them, the shadows looked more like the silhouettes of space ships. I imagined us making attack runs on everything from oncoming traffic, to wind turbines, and the towns we rode through. There were no survivors… What? The sun made us do it.

That wS a beautiful piece of writing Todd. I felt wrapped up in short story that ended way too soon. Imaginatively descriptive. Cool!
