I took a look out the window this morning around 4 or 5 and was everything was wet. By the time we actual got loaded up it was raining and has continued to do so all day. We started the day on beautiful tiny roads just outside of Newport. The problem is, is that my attention focuses solely on safety. I stop being able to appreciate the things around me out of safety’s sake. Swampkat is the same way. He has also been dealing with a small leak in his back tire. It would hold air fine when it was warm, but over night it would lose half it’s pressure. We have a pump so we can maintain pressure, but soon we’ll be in the middle of now where (can’t wait!!)  and don’t want to deal with something we can address now.
So, we decided to hit the nearest triumph dealer we could find and try our luck. These walk-in situations can be bit hit or miss. Outside of Eugene is where his the shop was and after speaking to him he told us he could get it in today.  Score! It turns out that his shop was actually no longer a triumph dealership because he couldn’t afford the 30k in renovations the suits wanted. This was unfortunate because we could tell he was a good dude and the shop/showroom were totally fine. The tire was fixed super fast and he gave us some good advice in regards to tire pressures when the bikes are this loaded down.  We’d like to thank Rod Johnson and his mechanic down at Cycle Parts for treating is right. Thank you.
The repair time gave us a chance to review our options. Stay on small roads and miss the scenery or jump on the highway where rain isn’t as big of an issue and try to ‘ stage ‘ for tomorrow. We’re not idiots.. well he’s not so we decided to shoot north to Salem so that we are in a good spot with less rain for tomorrow’s ride. Sorry guys not a lot of stuff for you today.

Dog Bakeries.
This was a business,  like with an actual store in a town. I was confused..dogs don’t care what they eat. I, you, we have seen them eat sh*t, they don’t care.

Today we spent the majority of the day going North 101 up the coast of Oregon. I was surprised how the forests just met the ocean,  there was very little transition. Most of the morning we were in some sort of fog bank, it gave the trees this spooky feeling. Another cool effect was how the fog obscured the humongous rocks just off the shore. These things were huge, we’ve driven the entire California coast and this terrain doesn’t exist. Remember the movie, Goonies? It’s that coast. We saw giant grass covered sand dunes and the biggest pile of saw dust..maybe on the planet. I swear it was over 5 stories tall and about a 1/4 mile in length. Yeah, huge! You could smell it before you saw it. The air smelt so nice the entire drive.
Coolest things we saw were the bridges. They were mainly concrete with some steel,  but each one was different in it’s own way. I got the impression that whoever built them actually gave a sh*t. I appreciate when you can tell care was put into something.

Swampkat and I went and saw Batman v Superman tonight in Crescent City. It was awesome. Affleck friggin killed it! It felt closer to the animated versions of the characters than previous renditions , and if you understand what I mean when I say that you will also enjoy the movie.
What is completely random and totally amazing is that in 2013 we happened to be in this same exact town and watched Man Steel. Even stranger, but so typical is that Man of Steel is on tv now. Isn’t it odd when things work out this way?

Zebras.
I sh*t you not. Two of them just hanging out in a field,  in one of those hidden valleys.

Today we started on the coast but very quickly found ourselves in sasquatch country. Now, I didn’t see a skunk ape, but I could feel their beady little soulless eyes.
If you’ve never been around redwoods it’s hard to describe how friggin huge they are! We are taking 360 videos during some of our breaks, so hopefully once we stay at a place with good wifi we can upload them. And if you’re wondering, “Is riding a motorcycle through terrain like that similar the speeder bike scenes in Return of the Jedi?” My answer is, Yes, it’s exactly like it and awesome.
Today we experienced big temperature changes and saw some unexpected scenery. We started on the coasts, dipped into the forests, and down into hidden valleys. When we were near the Lost Coast, entire mountains had been converted into farm land. This land wasn’t fenced so the cows are literally right there. I saw a huge elk heard as well. 
One of my favorite things was the Eel River, it was wide and shallow, and had this really cool blue tint.
All and all, another good day. (alotta bugs though 🙂

We crossed the Golden Gate Bridge on our way out of SF, it was a fitting finale for me I think. The rest of the day we headed up the coast, through farm land and along beautiful rocky coasts. The wild flowers were out and the smell of the eucalyptus trees filled the air. As a bonus, there were very few db’s on the roads today. It was a good day.
